Man vs G-d

Man does everything he can to mock the G-d and disparage his creation and his authority as Sovereign of all things. Some science serves a great purpose for mankind in all this. It supplies an alternate belief system that requires nothing of it's disciples and promises little in return.
On the left is the latest theory of what man's ancestors looked like.
Tanakh, the bible, says that G-d made man in his image. Whatever your religion, this would include a physical representation of the spiritual. G-d speaks of his "hands, feet, face". Whether or not these exist in a physical way is not of importance. He has created men to look like him and to be able to spiritually be like him as well.
Science says that man is in the image of the apes.
People hate law. I read recently where one person said the word "obey" makes them cringe and that the word "authority" conjures up images of totalitarianism. People rebel at obedience, law, rules and following direction especially from someone with ultimate authority. Even when those laws, rules and directions are for the good of those involved they still hate it.
Nostradamus can't enforce anything. He is as dead as a doornail. He has only left nonsensical words for people to decipher. The Mayan calendar is a curiosity, but it too has no real authority. It can do nothing if you ignore it. G-d, however, does have authority and herein lies the reason so many refuse him and turn the other way to find their own gods and authorities.
Perhaps in all history there was not any greater rebel than Nimrod. His every thought and impulse was against G-d and he ultimately lead the entire world astray in his efforts to unite men under his one government.
After hearing of the massive flood that took the old world away, leaving a new world where Noah and his sons could repopulate, Nimrod bore great resentment. No lesson was learned from the flood. He didn't see that the great laws set in place by the world's very creator were it's salvation, it's hope and the only way to live on the earth peaceably and prosperously.Like a child told "no" by it's parent he was most likely livid at not being able to have his own way. Nimrod saw his relation with his Creator as that of adversaries and he put himself before G-d like a petulant self willed child.
Mankind has not changed much. We resent authority, being told what to do even if it's for our own good. Many would rather die than do what's right. We see that with drug addicts etc. Whole nations are so anti-G-d that they would rather live in abject filth than go another way. Most don't even bother to look at why there are problems in the world.
But time and again G-d has told mankind that his way leads to peace and decency and nothing else does. Time and again man says, no thanks and goes his own way. No lesson is learned, nothing is gained. In the entire history of the world G-d's way has NEVER been tried at all. Not even by Israel(though they were held to a higher standard than the rest of the world and did a far better job than most know.) To see how good a job read the works of Rabbi Avigdor Miller zt'l
Sad no? And then people ask why does G-d let bad things happen. He doesn't , we do. If he didn't, man would turn around later and say, "you never let us try our own way, so how can we know you're ways are right?". It's true. It's exactly what we would say.
So the world goes on it's merry way warring and fighting and starving and dying and aching and crying because G-d is on the back burner in every corner of the world.
And the world will trot out the latest missing link, the latest prophet and calendar in a futile attempt to find peace only to drive peace farther and farther away. This all is myth and nonsense to the world too though.

As much as there are probably more people without religion in the world than ever right now, there are also more Christians and Muslims in the world right now than at any other time in history. The largest population in world history is why that is possible.
Have you ever considered moving to a Southern state? I think that you would find that the majority of the people in much of the South would agree with everything that you have written here. You write now as if you feel somewhat alone in these statements. Rest assured, there are many who agree with you, perhaps not in the Northeast, perhaps not me, but the South is brimming over with people who feel very much like you do.

That's just one example, there are countless others.
I feel much differently, as my Quaker ancestors left England in the 17th century for religious reasons. That is the beauty of this great nation though, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, even if that opinion is ultimately deemed unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.
Nope, not moving.
Nor am I looking for anyone who believes as I do nor their company.
I am not anti-science. It was my major subject!
I am not looking to make converts to my beliefs, but I find it sad that G-d is shoved out of the picture and replaced by theory.
I find it sad that truth is replaced by myth like Mayan calendars.
A prophecy created by man such as "the world will end in 2012" is a ridiculous thing to follow, I do agree wholeheartedly on that.
it's un-pc to embrace our traditional beliefs, but pc to jump on every bit of this world superstition

Thou shalt not make graven images, nor take the image of the Admou"r meCreedmoor in vain!
While I can see how you might have mistaken that supposed scientific ancestor of ours for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, it is actually the Admou"r meCreedmoor's passport photo which he uses so that he can abuse his diplomatic immunity to smuggle foodstamps from Burkina Faso into the US.
Moadim lesimha!
hehehehe
Probably OT but now there's a lot of buzz about "neuro-theology." That our experience of Hashem, our joy, out still small voice, our conscience, sense of guilt is nothing more than neurology.
Very sad and more than a little bit creepy.
The whole concept creeped me out when I watched Altered States in the 80s and it creeps me out watching a show about it on PBS's NOVA.
Your headers are so beautiful !Thank you for a bit of beauty on a dreary day .
Man is really a rebellious child , as you said , wanting its own way even if to its detriment .
